The Fuji Declaration at the United Nations

Mrs. Saionji introduces the Fuji Declaration during World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration at the U.N., February 3, 2016

Mrs. Saionji joined other distinguished government and U.N. speakers, religious, and heads of international organizations to discuss the importance of interfaith solidarity in ensuring the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The event was organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in partnership with the Committee of Religious NGOs at the United Nations.

The heart of her speech was the introduction of the Fuji Declaration, launched in May 2015. She encouraged people in all fields to be part of the Fuji Declaration, to bring forth the divine spark that links all people in unity while encouraging our diversity to shine through.

What would relationships between religions or governments look like if we all understood that every individual has this divine spark?

Could this understanding open the door to a new era of unity in diversity that empowers the work of the United Nations?”

Fuji Declaration in the NY Times in Education

Eliane Ubalijoro shares her insights

Eliane Ubalijoro, one of Fuji Declaration’s prominent signatories mentions the Fuji Declaration in The Leading Thoughts which is an online platform of the NY Times for leading educators, scholars and practitioners to share their thoughts on leadership. Eliane participated in the inaugural events in celebration of the Fuji Declaration last May in Japan. Her experiences transformed her life and she shares them with her colleagues and peers in her article.

“Earlier that same week, a smaller group had gathered in Tokyo at the United Nations University hailing from different corners of the earth, across different disciplines. What I hold most dear of this gathering is the importance of designing and facilitating spaces for wisdom to emerge out of the uncertainty and richness of bringing very different people together to reflect on a common purpose.”

Youth Art Contest choses Fuji Declaration Theme

Peace Pals International to host Oneness and Diversity Theme

Peace Pals International Art Exhibition and Awards invites children between the ages of 5 and 16 around the world to submit artwork in the spirit of the universal message of peace, May Peace Prevail On Earth. Since then, tens of thousands of artwork have been collected from every continent celebrating the visions of peace held within the hearts of youth.

For the 19th annual Peace Pals Awards program the theme, Oneness and Diversity, will be highlighted along with the Fuji Declaration. Thousands of artwork will be collected from youth of every continent sharing their visions of hope. Award winners in each of the age categories will be announced on September 21st, the International Day of Peace proclaimed by the United Nations. read more
